Microsoft clearly needs a good reason to refute its previous claims and still abandon Windows 10 by introducing a new operating system number. The Redmond giant has been preparing for a long time the redesign of the Sun Valley (“Sun Valley”) update – apparently Windows 11 was under this name The Sun Valley project flashed online for a long time – Microsoft regularly revealed details of the new interface style, insiders shared previously unknown information, and popular designers in their circles drew all this realistic concepts based on information. – Startup and system elements hover above the bottom bar. Start is the business card and face of every newer version of Windows.
We have to admit that this small change makes the system look much fresher
Not surprisingly, the developers of Windows 11 are changing it again, but not so much in the functional sense as in the visual sense – the Start window floats above the bottom bar. Based on the information on the network, Microsoft does not radically change the “inside” of this menu – the innovations affect only the design of the window itself. The control panel also floats, and the design is exactly the same as “Start”. The action center is combined with the control buttons – something similar has been used for a long time in some other operating systems.
– Straight angles disappear, they are replaced by oblique ones
Almost all mentions of this new menu point to it being separate – controls are in one separate panel, notifications are in another, and certain elements (like the player) are in another separate panel. True, insiders and designers of the concept do not agree on this point – some are convinced that Microsoft will not change its traditions and remain at a right angle, while others are convinced that in 2021 Microsoft will follow the fillet fashion. The latter better fits the definition of “all new Windows” – menus alone are not enough to make a new look truly new. The files are expected to affect almost everything in the system, from context menus and system panels to all application windows.
– There is a transparent background and blur everywhere
True, even in this matter, the opinions of concept designers differ – some draw fillets on all possible interface elements, others connect them with right angles. Online, they disagree about the island style of the window display, the corner design and the levitation effect of the menu, but almost everyone agrees on the transparency of the window. Most design leaks and renders show transparency and blur in all windows, whether it’s at least the Start menu or Explorer. Moreover, these effects can be found even in the canceled operating system Windows 10X, which Microsoft developed in parallel with the Sun Valley project for devices with two screens and weak hardware.
