Scenario
Nate Busco has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past. Tired of being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats corn husks, and uses track practice as a shower. By nightfall, he could not be more different from his confident, mischievous school self. Only fragments of traumatic memories from his past haunt him. Enter Stan Dean, a popular high school drama teacher dealing with his own problems. He sees Nate’s hidden talent and needs nurturing and guidance where no other teacher can or will help. But in a surprising turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and left in handcuffs. Stan follows Nate to the police station and not only bails him out, but he also agrees to take Nate into his home, despite the raised eyebrows of his fellow teachers. Stan is willing to do anything to help his struggling student. But the question is, can you really help someone else if you’re not willing to help yourself?
