When Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence were asked how they got Harrison Ford to join the show, Segel said that Goldstein initially wanted a “Harrison Ford type” and intended to cast people who looked like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least introduce him to Ford, thinking he would immediately decline, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been approached about the project, sparking interest from other big-name actors.

Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was still elated.. From the reviews I’ve read here, it seems like people either love this show or really hate it, and it seems like it might depend on how the reviewers react to Jason Segal.
The relationships are complex and emotional, and the very real human challenges are well-drawn
I’ve enjoyed his movies and think he’s a great fit for the role – and the addition of Harrison Ford takes the show to an even higher level. The writing is great, the story is fresh, and the characters are original without going overboard with the stereotypically weird.
It can be funny one minute and tear-jerking the next
I was really disappointed after the second episode when I realized I had to wait for more. Highly recommended!
