The DC Studios logo is on a rainy Gotham alley
Scenario
After the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, makes a play to take the reins of Gotham’s underworld. Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they settled into making The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin Smoking Tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed. However, his own series portrays the character as an occasional tobacco user, preferring cigars.
He is impressive
The umbrella drops and the logo changes to the Warner Bros logo. Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Farrell STEALS this series. There is nothing in the character that even hints at Farrell.
Well written and tense
The New York accent, the sway and limp, the attitude: you’d swear it was a different person. The amazing prosthetics are very realistic and complement the character. The performance is small and picturesque. There is nothing cartoonish about it.
It’s a pity
It’s the perfect counterpart to Christopher Nolan’s Batman. In fact, I’d say it blows the Marvel line out of the water. I hope it can be a season 2, but I know it’s limited. HBO has a legitimate shot.
