Colin Farrell fought hard to get his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but failed
Scenario
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, stages a show to take over Gotham’s criminal underworld. From melting off the makeup to filming in freezing weather, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti share how they got into character during the production of The Penguin. However, for his own series, the character was portrayed as a casual smoker, with a penchant for cigars.

The umbrella falls and the logo transforms into the Warner Bros. logo. Starring Graham Norton and guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024).
But after the first episode, I will confirm that this series is amazing (so far)
I thought Colin Farrell was great as the Penguin in Batman, but I never understood casting a skinny, fit actor and putting huge prosthetics and a big suit on him… especially when I think he looks like other famous actors who would also be just as good. I also really didn’t understand why this spin-off was happening, and to be honest, I’m just sick of Batman reboots.
But I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did
I watched it knowing it was meant to bridge the gap between the first and second movies, and to my surprise, I enjoyed Farrell as the first one. The acting is great, the writing is great, and it surprised me with some quick twists. What I liked most was the fact that it had a lot more color than Batman.
I hope it continues to be this good because I’m really looking forward to the next installment
I noticed this almost immediately, as it was my biggest complaint about the movie (it felt like I was watching it through a Zack Snyder lens). Check out our review of “Yellowstone” Season 5, Episode 2, “Squid Game” Season 2 and more of the most anticipated new series returning to TV and streaming.
